Lampert Lumber is the premier provider of lumber and building materials in the Madison area. We have proudly served contractors and residents for over a century.

The state’s capital city, Madison, is the second largest city in Wisconsin and the 83rd largest in the country. The city is home to over 243,000 residents that span over 94 square miles of land and water. We are proud to work with these residents and contractors every day. Over 17 square miles of the city is dedicated to the four lakes that reside in Madison. The city is often referred to as The City of Four Lakes. The four lakes are:

  • Lake Mendota or “Fourth Lake”
  • Lake Monona or “Third Lake”
  • Lake Waubesa or “Second Lake”
  • Lake Kegonsa or “First Lake”

No two lakes are touching the next because each lake is surrounded by land. The four lakes make up the Yahara River. The river flows into the Rock River, which then goes directly into the Mississippi River.

The City of Madison is always ranked highly in the top cities in the county. In 1996, Money magazine named the city as the number one place to live in the United States. The city has very low unemployment and crime rates. The city has been awarded many other achievements in the past decade. In 2003, Madison was named the number one sports town in the United States by Sports Illustrated and in 2004 Men’s Journal named Madison the healthiest city in the country.

The large city has some of the most diverse performing arts in the state. It hosts many music festivals, art shows and theatrical performances. The city is also the backdrop to many films including Chain Reaction, The Last Kiss and Public Enemies.
