About Eagan
Just south of St. Paul, Minnesota lays the city of Eagan. The city is a nearby suburb for the southern portion of the Twin Cities. Eagan is home to just under 65,000 residents that span over 33 square miles making it the eighth largest city in the state. We’re proud to serve contractors and residents of Eagan every day.
The land was originally used as a rural farming land and was known for the Onion Capital of the United States. The city was named after Patrick Eagan because he was the first chairman of the town board in 1854.
The town functions mainly as a commuter town into the big cities, where most of the residents travel to work. The town of Eagan has a few main employers that help contribute to the city’s economy. Over 6,800 residents are employed by Thomson Reuters, which is a popular legal publisher. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota employs over 3,000 of Eagan’s residents.
Eagan is home to many schools that are served by three school districts. There are 13 elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school that are located in the town. Eagan also is home to three private schools and the Dakota County Public Library.
The town has also received high rankings on many notable lists. Money magazine has ranked Eagan as on of their named “Top Places to Live in America.” The residents were subjected to a poll to determine the quality of life in the city and 96% of residents rated it as “excellent” or “good”.
